About Us

Who are Shoo – and what do we do?

Digital marketing

done well

SHOO is the place to go for social media marketing consultancy. We work with ambitious marketing managers and business owners to deliver the best data led advertising campaigns.

We find that hard working marketing managers and business owners are too overwhelmed to create creative, technical and data-led digital marketing campaigns that provide them with their best results. When they are continuinly working hard on delivering a range of marketing campaigns from digital to print the last thing they want to do is pull together a social post or a digital advert let alone monthly reports and suggestions on optermising the campaigns.

We provide a full Social media marketing service which spans from our one of a kind ShooCo system , which combines the power of content, technical and data intelligence to achieve results

SHOO continues to bring outstanding results to our clients as we are a small yet mighty team. We are not here to takeover anyones job we are here to become part of your extended team. With experience in Teaching and training, events management and the retail sector we bring more than a pretty social post to your brand.

Clients tell us that we feel like part of their extended family so much so that we retain our clients for 3+ years, and they keep coming back to us time and time again to build the most effective Social media marketing campaigns that bring them a return on their investment everytime.

This strategic approach prevents our clients from wasting their ad budget by using a “spray and pray” scattergun approach.

If you’re new to social media advertising and have relied on traditional marketing methods up to now, you might think of it this way: If you’d designed and printed a few hundred attractive leaflets, you wouldn’t just toss them out of a window and hope that someone, anyone, picks them up. You’d have a promotional team hand them out to people who are likely to be. interested, or place them strategically in venues where your potential customers would be found.

It’s exactly the same with paid advertising, and that’s our speciality.  We place your digital advertising material directly into your customers’ virtual space.

Our co-owners Rachel Hatfield and Chris Morris decided to take a leap of faith and extend their personal relationship into a professional partnership and go into business together in 2014. Since then we’ve gone from strength to strength; growing our business, team and vision.

But don’t worry, Shoo has no intention of slowing down.

“Where the virtual world meets the great outdoors”

With the nature of the business, the Shoo team spend much of their time embroiled in the

virtual world. So, as much as they love their work, when hard-earned leisure time comes around, we can't wait to get out into the great outdoors.

Our owners are well-known in the local community where Rachel is usually seen riding round the local countryside on her horse, JJ, or Chris and Rachel are out walking the office dog. Weimaraner pup Cosmo is head of chaos operations in the office and is highly regarded by everyone he works so madly alongside. Customers shouldn’t be too surprised to be greeted by our charming four legged member of staff if they call into the office.

One frequently asked question is about the business name, Shoo. Set against the countryside background, it’s surprisingly nothing to do with horses and their shoes – but an in-house joke about Rachel’s obsession with designer footwear.

Shoo set up an online networking group called “Meet the herd” so business owners of similar persuasions can get to chatting about their animal friends and outdoor pursuits.

Do saddle up and join us if that’s you.

The Shoo office building on Bolling Road, Ben Rhydding, has been part of Rachel’s family history for three generations.

You may even have seen it on the telly, as it was recently featured as a set in the production of Kate Mellor’s wry BBC drama, “The Syndicate”.

Business and community

Our annual Digital U conference, held at Denton Hall, Ilkley, drew around 200 attendees. It then reached more than 500 businesses when it was moved online during lockdown,

providing a week-long webinar series.

The Shoo team created Ilkley Social, a monthly, local and informal opportunity for businesses to get together, support and learn from each other. We cut out the traditional, rigid structure of networking, and simply have a right good chat. Usually over a drink, or two... It’s amazing what opportunities can stem from coming along to one of our events.

Our most recent community work programme has involved promotional support for Ben Rhydding Golf Club and Ilkley Town FC.

Not forgetting Fashion Fiesta, our annual charity event, set up in 2015. The event aims to support fashion designers, make-up artists, and start-up businesses. Involving more than 1,000 people, Fashion Fiesta is run completely by volunteers and is kindly sponsored by some of Shoo’s esteemed connections, with a big focus on creating opportunity, inclusion and diversity in a variety of sectors.

Giving Back

At Shoo, we’re committed to our ethos of giving back with the team pledging to devote 20% of their working hours to charitable or community projects.

Shoo supports media under-graduates with work placements through its educational programme, Shoo Academy, which has mentored more than 150 students.

It also supports younger students from Ilkley Grammar School, South Craven School, Shipley College and Craven College with work experience opportunities.

To ensure the net of opportunity is cast far and wide, Shoo co-owner Rachel Hatfield also provides part-time lecturing at Leeds Beckett University, either in person or online.

About Chris Morris

Chief Vision Officer

Co-owner Chris Morris is Shoo’s Chief Vision Officer, guiding the company’s business growth strategy to hit both short-term and long-term goals.

Chris has followed a varied career path. From working in a children’s theme park in Boston, USA, to backpacking across Europe before traveling via telesales and management roles into teaching. Over an eight-year period he taught at a number of inner city Leeds and Bradford primary schools, before retiring from teaching at the “grand old age of 33” to set up Shoo with Rachel.

Entrepreneurship has always interested him, in particular, “the challenge, the glory, and being in charge of your own destiny”.

His teaching experience proved to be invaluable in delivering high-quality training to meet the needs of clients. He’s been able to keep on using those talents through Shoo’s educational and community projects, whilst also taking a lead on the number crunching/ data side of the business.

As well as his teaching qualifications, Chris has a psychology degree, which assists in the essential task of assessing the desires and behavioural patterns of

potential customers in the digital marketing world.

Chris explains: “We’ve all experienced looking on a website at a pair of shoes or other product or activity, then logging onto Facebook, to see that same pair of shoes, and thinking, ‘Facebook is listening to me!’ That’s pretty much what we do.”

In his leisure time, Chris loves the outdoor life and describes himself as a dog lover, walker and explorer. He’s played football all his life to semi-professional level. When he gets the chance to relax at home, you’ll find him happily engrossed in his Marvel comics.
